Full Moon SUP Yoga - June Newsletter

I love the full moon.  There is something that draws us to it.  When I see the full moon I feel energized and peaceful.

Throughout time, many cultures have had different beliefs about the full moon and its effect on people.  Native American Culture has moon signs similar to the more popular sun astrological signs.  Religion and spiritual beliefs have believed that the full moon has powerful energy and that is what affects people. You have probably heard teachers or emergency room personnel say that things are a bit crazier when there is a full moons.  Anecdotal stories seem to indicate this is true.  While studies have not been able to statistically prove this, and we know that the moon's gravitational pull does not affect enclosed water like that in the brain, it is hard to believe that there is nothing to the idea that the energy of the moon is not real.

So many stories from different cultures over such a long period of time seem to point to truth in the moon's power.  Often ancient ideas have been shown to be true, after science has said they are wrong.  We in the west are just now turning to acupressure, acupuncture and other eastern medical practices.  Recent studies have shown how helpful meditation and yoga can be for those struggling with chronic pain or a chronic disease.  Many believe that the energy from a full moon allows us the opportunity to harness that force.  It magnifies emotion - good and bad.  Many spiritual paths recommend keeping positive thoughts, envisioning your dream manifesting and meditating.  Some also encourage bathing in the light of the moon and being out in nature.

With that in mind, I invite you to join us for a Full-Moon SUP (Stand-Up Paddle-board) Yoga on June 9th.

Namaste.
